A Ridgway, brown pottery pitcher together with a small tankard, each with black transfer printed scenes depicting Coaching Days and Coaching Ways. The pitcher shows a scene, with three people with a pair of horses , titled “A Snapped Pole”, on one side and on the other a scene of a statue in front of an inn titled “the green man at Waltham”. The small tankard show a scene of passengers walking along side a stage titled “walking up the hill”, on one side and a scene of a horse drawn plough, titled “fresh teams” on the other. These were made from 1890 until 1920. There is a cartouche on the base of each which has printed: “Scenes from Coaching Days & Coaching Ways by Special Permission of Macmillan & Co. Ltd. Ridgway England”. The jug is 7.5″ high and 5.25″ at its widest . The tankard is 4″ high and 3.25″ across the base. The pieces are in nice condition, no damage noted.
