A large 19th century Staffordshire blue and white transfer printed platter, from the series “Beauties of England and Wales”. Circa 1820. It measures 21.5″ long by 16.75″ wide. The maker unknown. There is a printed cartouche on the rear with the name of the series but not of the particular view. It is in nice condition, no damage noted.
A series of 26 volumes with the title “Views of England and Wales” was published between 1801 and 1808. It is assumed that the views in these books were the source.
