A Copeland and Garrett late Spode green transfer printed base from a soup tureen. It shows a scene of places which were visited by Lord Byron on his European tours. This base shows a Franciscan convent, where Byron spent his permanence in Athens. Each piece shows a Copeland and Garrett late Spode printed mark on its rear. This base is 13.5 inches diameter. The piece was made about 1840. It is in good condition, no damage noted.
