A Staffordshire pink transfer printed child’s dinner service, circa 1840. It comprises of: six x 4.25″ soup bowls, seven x 4.25″ plates, nine x 3.5″ plates, eight x 2.75″ plates, soup tureen, lid and base, sauce tureen , lid and base and extra base, bread bowl, baking dish, gravy boat, 2 x covered vegetable dishes, four platters, 3″, 4″ 5″ and 5.75″ long respectively. A total of 48 pieces. There are no makers marks but according to Petra Williams Book 2 supplement the pattern name is “Manilla” (sic), and the maker is Samuel Alcock. The set is nice and bright. The soup tureen misses a handle and the baking dish is stained on its reverse but no other damage noted. A very pretty set.
