A rare Staffordshire blue and white transfer printed parrot border series bourdaloue, showing views of the Taj Mahal with fruiting leaves, flowers and the parrot border on inside rim. It measures 9″ from the handle to the tip, stands 3.5″ high and is 4″ at its widest. Circa 1827. It shows no makers mark. It is in nice condition with no damage noted.
This pattern taken from a print entitled, “The Taj Mahal, Tomb of the Emperor Shah Jehan and his Queen”, published in “A Picturesque Tour along the Rivers Ganges and Jumna, India”, 1824, by Lt-Col Charles Ramus Forrest.
