A very fine Ashworth Bros. Real Ironstone China dinner service, decorated in the Imari palette. Circa 1870. Most pieces show a printed Ashworth coat of arms mark and the impressed mark “REAL IRONSTONE CHINA”. It comprises of eight soup plates, 10.25″ dia, twenty two dinner plates 10.25″ dia, eight dessert plates 8.75″ dia, eight side plates 7.75″ dia. There is a large oval meat dish with well, 18.75″ long, and a nest of five platters 20.5″, 15.5″, 13″ and two 11″. There is a mezzanine 13.5″ long, a soup tureen and stand with cover. a pair of vegetable dishes with covers, and a sauce tureen lid and base.
One vegetable dish cover has a crack from the finial to the edge. There is a little rubbing to the gilt otherwise it is in overall good condition. A beautiful set.
