A blue and white transfer printed oval two handled footbath by John Rogers of Staffordshire in the Athens pattern, decorated with views of antient buildings and ruins from the city within a border of flowers . Circa 1825. It measures 19½” across handles and 13¼” wide. It has no makers mark but shows a printed pattern name. It has a couple of nibbles to the top edge, has the usual glaze cracks inside the bath and the usual star glaze crack to the base. Non of the cracks go through the body. It has little wear but no serious damage. Footbaths of this period, that were in general use, are normally in much worse shape.
