Ashworth’s Ironstone Dinner Service
An extensive Ashworth Real Ironstone China dinner service, circa 1880 in the Butterfly and Dragon pattern, pattern number 3/1605
It consists of:
one tree and well meat platter, 21.5″ wide, one 21.5″ oval platter two 17″ platters, two 15.5″ platters, one 13.5″ platter. a soup tureen cover and tray, a bread/salad bowl (similar shape to the soup tureen body but slightly smaller and decorated inside, two vegetable dishes and lids,
two sauce tureens with stands, 24 plates (10.25″ diameter), nine plates (9.25″ diameter), 12 plates (8.25″ diameter), 16 soup plates (10.25″ diameter) 12 smaller soup / pudding plates (9.25″ diameter). Total 96 pieces.
Each piece shows the Ashworth’s printed and impressed marks.
The soup tureen body has a small crack in its foot. One sauce tureen lid is cracked. One vegetable dish has a crack to its body and repaired cracks to its lid, the other a chip to its foot. All the plates, bowls and platters are in great condition.
