A Ridgway, brown pottery pitcher together with a small tankard, each with black transfer printed scenes depicting Coaching Days and Coaching Ways. The jug shows a scene, with men leading out horses , titled “Taking out the leaders”, on one side and on the other a scene of a statue in front of an inn titled “the green man at Waltham”. The small tankard show a scene of a rider along side a stage coach titled “winter days amusement”, on one side and a scene of of passengers walking along side a stage titled “walking up the hill”, on the other. These were made from 1890 until 1920. There is a cartouche on the base of each which has printed: “Scenes from Coaching Days & Coaching Ways by Special Permission of Macmillan & Co. Ltd. Ridgway England”. The pitcher is 6.75″ high, and the base measures 5.25″ diameter. The tankard is 3.75″ high and 3.25″ across the base. The pieces are in nice condition, no damage noted.
